September 2021 Goosecross Wine Club Staff Picks Playlist for Spotify
“Tin Cup Chalice” by Jimmy Buffett – From our very own Alex Wright: This one brings me straight to the islands. All I need is a hammock under the shade of a palm tree and a “tin cup for a chalice filled up with good red wine (2017 GC State Lane Merlot)”. JB is known to love Napa reds so he would 100% approve of this pairing. #WWJBD
“California (Cast Iron Soul)” by Jamestown Revival – From Alex Wright: This brings me to the gold country mountains with a glass of 2017 Goosecross Syrah in hand. Jonathan Clay of J.R. was quoted saying “The more you cook with a cast iron skillet, the better it tastes. The more you experience in life, the more you can truly appreciate life. It’s our humble opinion that life experience is the spice of life itself.” Syrah is spicy and robust like a good cast iron (this is making me hungry)
“Small Poppies” by Courtney Barnett – Tasting Room Manager Jason Velderrain: “At its root, Small Poppies is a song about being so heartbroken that boredom and isolation become your daily routine. However, it’s not Courtney’s lyrics that drive this gem of a song, but more of her bluesy, guitar-shredding frenzy that takes center stage. She kicks ass! I paired this song with the 2018 Goosecross Zinfandel because of its power and richness. It’s the perfect wine to throw a set of headphones on and go full stereophonic while playing some epic air guitar.”
“TVC15” by David Bowie – From Jason Velderrain: “There are fewer more complex individuals than David Bowie, his other-worldly musical styles ranged from electro-pop, funk, prog rock, and new wave. I paired the equally complex 2017 Goosecross State Lane Cabernet Franc with a relatively unknown song, TVC15 from 1976’s Station to Station album, a song about technological paranoia or the love affair between a man and his robot. The 2017 Cabernet Franc is every bit as soulful and smooth as the late great crooner himself.”
“Rattle and Hum” by U2 – From Winemaker Bill Nancarrow: “To start, I’m going with the entire ‘Rattle and Hum’ album from U2 and pairing it with the 2017 Branta – because they both have a little bit of everything in them.”
“Don’t Know Why” by Norah Jones – Hospitality Extraordinaire Janie Bason has paired this sultry Norah Jones hit with the equally sultry 2017 Game Farm Cabernet Sauvignon
“Do You Feel Like We Do” by Peter Frampton – Janie Bason has paired Frampton’s masterpiece with 2019 Goosecross Chardonnay
“Hole in the bottle” by Kelsea Ballerini– The lovely Denise Campbell chose both the 2018 GC Pinot Noir and 2017 GC State Lane Cabernet Sauvignon because Kelsea mentions both varietals in the song!
“One Lovely Day” by Citizen Cope – From Denise Campbell: “This is not country 😉 LOVE Citizen Cope! And this pairs beautifully with the 2019 Goosecross Chardonnay”
“Angel” by Massive Attack – The tasting room’s very own Ari Goldmann has paired this 90’s electronica nugget with the 2018 Goosecross Pinot Noir
“Traveling Alone” by Jason Isbell – Ari Goldmann has paired this song with the 2016 Goosecross Petite Sirah.
“Howlin’ for You” by the Black Keys – Paired with the 2017 GC Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon because the title of the song says it all!
“Dancing in the moonlight” by Toploader – Wine Club Manager Samantha Francis has paired this song with the 2020 Goosecross Sauvignon Blanc
“Feeling good today” by Floyd Wonder (the official mayors of brunch core) – Samantha Francis paired this song with the 2020 Goosecross Rose for Lucy
“Red Red Wine” by UB40 – Because why not?
