Nord Ridge, Howell Mountain
The Nord Ridge Vineyard is located on the eastern slopes of Howell Mountain at an elevation of 1,800 feet, with the vineyard rows terraced into the hillside, on a steep 30% grade. The soils are lower in nutrients and have poor minerality following years of weathering.
Sitting above the fog line, the vineyard enjoys a longer solar exposure than valley floor vineyards enabling a slightly longer growing season and more even ripening; we tend to see an earlier bud break or an awakening of the vines in the spring.
Planted to both Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Sirah, the vineyard exhibits a classic hillside leanness and pure fruit expression you would anticipate.
