McGill “Lazy K&S” Vineyard

20140823_080509Located in the Rutherford sub-appellation or district of Napa Valley, the “Lazy K&S” vineyard is planted to Riesling vines that are approaching 100 years old.

The Rutherford district is renowned for its soil composition often referred to as “Rutherford dust”. The unique character of Rutherford dust produces flavors in wines ranging from coffee, cocoa powder to chocolate, with a fine dusty feeling to the tannins.

The vines produce a small crop but with great character and depth of flavor resulting in a wine with structure, balance and intensity.

Traditionally, this is the first vineyard we harvest from, so when the “Lazy K&S” fruit hits the winery, we know harvest has truly begun!
