Colleen’s Kitchen

After many years of cooking for my family, I’m pleased to say that we have compiled a comprehensive and versatile recipe collection. I love the challenge of pairing different dishes with Goosecross wine, so I have personally tested each recipe to be sure it’s complete. My recipes not overly complicated, seasonally delicious with readily available ingredients, and they won’t leave you with too much clean-up. I sincerely hope you enjoy them.

Goosecross Cellars Recipe
Side dish for turkey

3 pounds sweet potatoes

½ cup maple syrup

½ cup brown sugar

2 tablespoons butter

½ teaspoon salt

Preheat oven to 350°. Peel and cut the sweet potatoes in half. In a large saucepan or dutch oven, bring pot of salted water to a boil and drop in potatoes. Cook potatoes until tender, about 30-40 minutes. Drain and allow the potatoes to cool slightly.

Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, bring the syrup, brown sugar, butter and salt to a boil over medium heat. Simmer 5 minutes, and remove from heat.

Slice potatoes into 1”slices. Place potatoes in a casserole dish, and pour the syrup over to coat the potatoes.

Bake uncovered at 350° for 30 minutes.
